The Arts Council for Long Beach Annual Grant Program:

Operating Grant I & II


Operating Grants I and II provide unrestricted, operating support to Long Beach-based arts and cultural organizations whose primary mission is to collect, preserve, present, and/or commission exemplary works of art (e.g. visual art exhibitions, theater, dance, and/or musical performances). Works of art must be of regional significance, for the benefit of the general public, and provide educational opportunities that enable audiences to better understand and appreciate the arts.

Through Operating Grants I and II, the Arts Council for Long Beach partners with arts and cultural organizations in order to meet the following goals: Artistc, Organizational Management, and Community Impact.


Community Project Grant

The Community Project Grant program supports the exemplary artistic, cultural, and arts educational projects of arts and cultural organizations in Long Beach. Through Community Project Grant programs, the Arts Council for Long Beach partners with arts and cultural organizations in order to achieve the following goals:
• To support arts and cultural projects proposed by organizations that are able to identify community needs, identify target audiences, and demonstrate ability to meet needs
• To support projects proposed by organizations that are well-managed and able to plan and deliver programs
• To encourage culturally diverse programs to achieve community representation


Professional Artist Fellowship

The Professional Artist Fellowship honors a selection of Long Beach's living artists. These awards recognize exemplary artists for their recent work. Eligible artists must reside in Long Beach and demonstrate an active exhibition and/or production record of at least 3 years.

Awards are granted based on artistic merit and professional achievement. Eligible artistic disciplines include:

• Visual Arts
• Performing Arts
• Literary Arts
• Media Arts
• Folk and Traditional Arts*
• Multidisciplinary or Interdisciplinary Arts

Awards and Declines have been distributed to all 2011-2012 applicants. If you have not recieved any notification regarding the grant cycle, please contact Molly Gardner molly.gardner@artslb.org

The Arts Council for Long Beach Micro-Grant Program

Project Micro-grants are available year-round until funding in the category is depleted for the fiscal year. Projects must be free, open to the public and must benefit the citizens of Long Beach. Worthy projects will support community representation and cultural respect; encourage cultural diversity; and/or enhance underserved communities, neighborhoods, or populations of Long Beach. Professional Development grants are also available year-round until funding in the category is depleted for the fiscal year. Funded professional development opportunities must enhance the organization's or artist's ability to serve the citizens of Long Beach.

2011-2012 Monthly Micro-Grant Program

GRANTS PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Established in 1976, the Arts Council for Long Beach is the official arts agency for the City of Long Beach. The goal of the Arts Council is to improve the quality of life, through the arts, for all residents of and visitors to our city. We encourage every member of the community to enjoy direct, personal experiences with artists, scholars, educators, and original works of art in every discipline and practice.

The Arts Council for Long Beach and the City of Long Beach offers grants that foster a vibrant arts community that generates jobs or revenue for creative entrepreneurs, interest for tourists, enjoyment and civic pride for local residents, and the promotion of diversity and understanding throughout the City.
