2010 Distinguished Arts Awards Nominations

Each year Arts Council for Long Beach honors three exemplary individuals or organizations that have played an essential role in fostering the arts in Long Beach. These non-monetary awards are bestowed in recognition of excellence, devotion, and community contribution. Recipients are selected through a nomination process. Nominations are solicited from local artists, arts professionals and volunteers, and community members who submit nominations by completing the 2010 Distinguished Arts Award nomination form. Nominations are reviewed by an independent panel that chooses the recipients. Recipients will be honored at the annual State of the Arts presentation in October, 2010.
DISTINGUISHED ARTS AWARDS CATEGORIES
1. Distinguished ARTIST OF THE YEAR Award
The Distinguished Artist of the Year Award honors exemplary contributions to the Long Beach arts community by a visual, literary or performing artist. Past recipients are ineligible.
2. Distinguished ARTS LEADERSHIP Award
The Distinguished Arts Leadership Award honors exceptional leadership contributions to the Long Beach arts community by arts professionals in the visual, literary or performing arts. Nominees may include arts or cultural organizations, arts support organizations, or individual arts professionals. Past recipients are ineligible.
3. Distinguished ARTS PATRON or VOLUNTEER Award
The Distinguished Arts Patron or Volunteer Award honors superlative leadership contributions to the Long Beach arts community by an arts patron or volunteer in the visual, literary or performing arts. Nominees should be individuals who have provided significant leadership through volunteerism and/or patronage. Past recipients are ineligible.
Each institution or individual may nominate up to three individuals or groups (one per category). Please complete and submit a separate application form for each nominee. In the interest of fairness, no additional advocacy on behalf of a nominee is allowed. Nominations are due by Wednesday, September 15, 2010.
