ABOUT STATE OF THE ARTS 2012:
During the State of the Arts and Distinguished Arts Awards 2012, the Arts Council has the unique privilege of celebrating where the arts fit into the cultural fabric of Long Beach, the impact advocacy has had on the arts this past year, and the challenges we face ahead as a community dedicated to the arts. The Arts Council for Long Beach will be honoring and awarding those who have contributed greatly to advancing Long Beach as a thriving, vibrant and creative city. State of the Arts 2012 will take place on April 25, 2012 at the EXPO Art Center in Bixby Knolls.

DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a student graphic designer to design a program for State of the Arts 2012. The program, given to attendees, will consist of the biographies of the awardees and sponsors, letters from the Executive Director and President of the Arts Council Board of Directors, and most importantly a unique and artistic cover page. The program consists of 14-16 pages front and back. You will be working with the Arts Council for Long Beach Staff and the State of the Arts 2012 Committee to fulfill the requirements of the project. Look for the Program: Modern, sleek, fresh, artsy. Dimensions for Program: 5" x 7" or 8.5" x 11"

CRITERIA:
Individual applicants or organizations must complete and submit an application via SUBMISHMASH (http://artscouncilforlongbeach.submishmash.com). Applications submitted after the posted deadline will not be considered.

ELIGABILITY:
The designer is required to be a student in the art or graphic design departments at Cal State Long Beach or Long Beach City College. We are specifically looking for a student designer because the Arts Council for Long Beach wants to give students the opportunities needed to improve their portfolios as well as expose them to working as a freelance designer. This would be an incredible opportunity for a young designer to complete an accomplished, professional product that will be seen and acknowledged by many in this community.

COMPENSATION:
The artist whose proposal is chosen will be given a stipend of $250

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
A complete application must include the following in ONE PDF or ONE compressed ZIP file (may include several files):
2. A resume (including website if available)
3. A digital portfolio or set of images of past design work

APPLICATION DELIVERY
All complete proposals must be received via SUBMISHMASH no later than December 19th by 11:59pm.
