Getty Multicultural Curatorial Intern - Ina Parker-Hicks!
June 27, 2012
About the Getty Multicultural Internship:
Aiming to increase diversity in and provide support to Los Angeles-area museums and visual arts organizations, the Multicultural Undergraduate Internship program serves local organizations as well as the next generation of arts professionals by funding multicultural undergraduate internships. Since 1993, the Foundation has funded more than 2,700 positions at 150 organizations.
The internships are intended specifically for currently enrolled undergraduates and recent graduates residing or attending college in Los Angeles County who are members of groups currently underrepresented in museums and visual arts organizations: individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, and Pacific Islander descent. Internships should be designed to offer eligible students experience in key areas such as curatorial work, conservation, education, publications, and related programmatic activities.
The Arts Council for Long Beach has recieves this internship again as a curatorial internship for The Collaborative Gallery. We are so excited to have Ina Parker-Hicks as our intern this summer. She brings fresh innovation in reimagining the space and deep rooted community connections.
A few words from Ina:
"Hi, my name is Ina and I am working as an intern to ACLB through the Getty Multicultural Internship Program. I have been charged with activating the space at the Collaborative and working with the community. I am very excited to have this opportunity to learn more about the arts and specifically the culture of art in Long Beach!"
Thank you Ina for joining us here at the Arts Council for Long Beach! Your vigor and talent in creating community wherever you go will be such an asset to this organization. Thank you Getty Foundation for providing us with this opportunity!
