Mission of the Public Art & Design Program
The Arts Council's Department of Public Art and Design facilitates civic improvement projects of all kinds: public art, parks, cultural facilities, live/work spaces, etc., which have resulted in over $2 million in projects since 1990. In partnership with the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency, it administers the Agency's Percent for Public Art Policy which requires that private developments allocate 1% of total costs to the Public Art Fund or to the creation of on-site public art or cultural facilities.
Public art staff with expertise in cultural planning are available for consultation. To learn more contact us at (562) 570.1930 or publicart@artslb.org
